The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invites passionate, motivated, and globally minded students to apply for its Business Operations Internship in Copenhagen, Denmark. This internship offers a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international development, logistics, procurement, and HR operations while working at the heart of UNDP’s mission to promote sustainable and inclusive progress.

About the Internship

As part of the Information and Technology Management (ITM) Unit at UNDP, interns will support the Service Delivery Team — the first line of response for ICT and Green Energy projects worldwide. You’ll help UNDP Country Offices streamline operations, manage logistics, and strengthen digital infrastructure in more than 170 countries.

This six-month internship bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world experience, giving you the chance to work on innovative sustainability and ICT projects that contribute to global development and humanitarian work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist country offices with administrative, procurement, and financial support for ICT and Green Energy projects.
  • Help with market research, quotation requests, e-requisitions, and logistics coordination.
  • Support global shipments, customs documentation, and inventory management.
  • Contribute to HR activities — from recruitment coordination to internship outreach and onboarding.
  • Maintain case records, prepare reports, and update internal knowledge bases for process improvement.
  • Participate in data collection and analysis for project monitoring and performance tracking.

Who Can Apply

Candidates must meet one of the following academic requirements at the time of application:

  • Currently enrolled in a postgraduate (Master’s or higher) program, or
  • In the final academic year of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • Have recently graduated (within one year) from a recognized university.

Preferred fields of study: International Business Administration, Logistics, Procurement, Human Resources, Finance, or Management.

Desired Skills

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with SharePoint or CRM/ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of procurement, cost recovery, or HR processes.
  • Analytical mindset and attention to detail.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.

Internship Conditions

Interns are eligible to receive a monthly stipend based on their duty location. The in-person internship rate for Copenhagen is approximately USD 1,000 per month.

Note: UNDP does not cover additional costs such as travel, accommodation, or insurance, which must be arranged by the intern. The internship is full-time (with flexibility for study commitments) and open to candidates eligible to live or study in Denmark. Interns must secure medical insurance and provide a health certificate before starting.

Why Join UNDP?

  • Gain international work experience in a multicultural environment.
  • Work on real-world sustainability and innovation projects.
  • Network with professionals from 160+ UNDP Country Offices and partner agencies.
  • Develop leadership and problem-solving skills in global operations.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit a CV and a Cover Letter (in English) explaining their interest and qualifications. Combine both documents into a single PDF before submission.
