What This Role Offers

As a Data Science Intern, you’ll join projects that inform policy and public-service improvements. You will work with real civic data, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and learn tools and techniques used in production-grade civic tech work.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, preprocess, and clean civic and project datasets using Python (Pandas, NumPy), Excel, and SQL.
• Perform Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) and identify patterns, trends, and outliers.
• Create clear, persuasive visualizations for reports and presentations using Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly.
• Contribute to research, literature reviews, and data-driven policy recommendations.
• Optionally help build or improve lightweight data tools (Streamlit, Flask) and document development work.
• Support stakeholder presentations and collaborate on external reporting materials.

Who We’re Looking For

• Pursuing a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.
• 1–2 years of practical experience (projects, internships, or coursework) in data analysis.
• Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable writing and presenting findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Familiarity with Python, SQL, and at least one visualization tool (Power BI, Plotly, Matplotlib).
• Interest in civic tech, transparency, or public policy is a strong plus.
