The Global Development Policy Center (GDP Center) at Boston University seeks rising scholars for the 2026–2027 Global China Fellows Program. This flagship fellowship supports pre- and post-doctoral researchers conducting policy-oriented work on China’s overseas economic engagement and its role in global development, sustainability, and governance.
Opportunity Overview
Fellows collaborate with GDP Center researchers, BU faculty, and Global South partners to produce policy-relevant work across four core research streams: Data Analysis for Transparency and Accountability (D.A.T.A.), Forestry, Agriculture, and Indigenous Rights (FAIR), Energy and Climate, and China and the International Financial Architecture (CHIFA). Appointments are for the 2026–2027 academic year and require a combination of collaborative and independent research.

Eligibility & Who Can Apply
Pre-doctoral applicants: completed qualifying exams and defended a dissertation proposal.
Post-doctoral applicants: defended dissertation by August 2026. Applicants must demonstrate a strong research interest in China’s overseas economic activities. Preference given to candidates with regional experience (Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia), language skills (Chinese or regional languages), or relevant disciplinary expertise (energy & climate policy, biodiversity, financial architecture, geospatial/quantitative methods).
