Work Arrangement: Remote
Compensation: $50–$90 per hour
Locations: North America, Latin America, Europe, UK & Oceania
Job Overview
micro1 is seeking Game Designers and Gameplay Developers to support an AI video annotation project involving the review and analysis of robotic arms performing real-world tasks.
While this is not a traditional game development position, game development experience provides valuable skills for understanding actions, states, interactions, rules, sequences, outcomes, and cause-and-effect relationships.
In this role, you will apply that systems-thinking approach to carefully analyze video footage, identify important events, label actions and interactions, and produce consistent, high-quality data that can be used to train next-generation AI systems.
Previous experience in artificial intelligence, robotics, or data annotation is not required. The project places strong emphasis on visual reasoning, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to follow detailed guidelines consistently.
Required Skills
- Game development
- Gameplay analysis
- Video annotation
- Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills
- Understanding of actions, interactions, states, and outcomes
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to identify visual events and behavioral patterns
- Ability to follow detailed rules and annotation guidelines
What You’ll Do
- Review robotic video footage: Analyze recordings of robotic arms performing different real-world tasks according to project-specific guidelines.
- Identify and label events: Recognize and annotate actions, object interactions, state changes, task outcomes, errors, and other relevant events within video segments.
- Apply gameplay systems thinking: Use your understanding of action sequences, object states, interactions, rules, cause and effect, and success or failure conditions to interpret behavior accurately.
- Perform precise annotation: Use dedicated annotation tools to tag and categorize video content accurately and consistently.
- Document ambiguous situations: Flag unclear moments and provide concise written explanations describing your observations and reasoning.
- Support quality control: Review annotations when requested and provide constructive feedback to help maintain data quality and consistency.
- Meet project deadlines: Complete assigned annotation batches accurately and within established project timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional or academic background in game design, gameplay development, technical game design, game QA, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of actions, object states, interactions, rules, and cause-and-effect relationships.
- Experience reviewing, testing, debugging, or documenting gameplay behavior.
- Excellent attention to detail and visual observation skills.
- Ability to apply the same evaluation criteria consistently across repetitive tasks.
- Strong written communication skills and ability to explain observations clearly.
- Experience with data annotation, visual QA, AI training, or robotics is an advantage but not required.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Who This Opportunity May Suit
This opportunity may be relevant to Game Designers, Gameplay Developers, Technical Game Designers, Game QA Testers, Level Designers, Interactive Media Developers, Game Developers, Gameplay Analysts, and professionals with strong experience analyzing interactive systems and visual behavior.
