Packaging Manager – International Breweries, Port Harcourt
International Breweries Plc, home to global beer brands like Budweiser, Corona, and Stella Artois, is seeking a highly skilled Packaging Manager to lead their Port Harcourt packaging operations. This role ensures top-quality output, efficient production processes, and effective team leadership in a dynamic brewery environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage Plant, Process & Systems
- Translate and implement packaging, manufacturing, and business strategies across the packaging hall.
- Ensure all team members understand and follow the VPO (Value, Process, Ownership) principles.
- Drive implementation plans for VPO Pillar Blocks to sustain results.
- Ensure conformance to plant and packaging specifications and standards.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Manager to maximize equipment availability and reliability.
- Optimize process capability and lead packaging projects as required.
- Coordinate packaging logistics, shift patterns, and run strategies for maximum productivity and supply reliability.
Packaging Productivity
- Control fixed and variable costs proactively.
- Minimize waste and ensure efficient raw material usage.
- Monitor packaging effectiveness through efficiency, trade quality, beer loss, and IQMS parameters.
- Maintain production and maintenance costs aligned with global benchmarks.
- Ensure overall reliability of the packaging hall.
Team Leadership
- Lead the packaging team with empowerment, ownership, and collaboration.
- Develop and communicate team goals effectively.
- Conduct performance reviews and one-on-one feedback sessions regularly.
- Identify training needs and develop plans to upskill the team, including cross-training.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, legislative policies, and PPE standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and correct unsafe work practices.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in the packaging hall.
- Promote the VPO safety pillar with ongoing coaching and OWDs.
Minimum Requirements
- BSc in Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 5 years’ experience in packaging management with asset management expertise.
- Experience managing high-speed packaging lines is highly advantageous.
- Proven experience managing people and driving commercial decisions in packaging.
- Demonstrated leadership of VPO in a brewery environment.
