Role Overview
Turing is looking for Python Backend Developers to join its Digital & Technology team. The role involves building backend systems, data pipelines and LLM-powered automation workflows that support financial data across internal and client-facing platforms.
The ideal candidate combines strong backend engineering skills with experience handling financial or structured data and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Backend Development
- Design, build and maintain Python-based backend services and APIs.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines.
- Manage and optimize PostgreSQL databases.
- Work on database schema design, migrations, indexing and query optimization.
- Collaborate with data engineers and analysts.
2. Process Automation & AI
- Build and operate LLM-powered automation workflows.
- Implement human-in-the-loop review processes for edge cases.
- Define escalation logic and audit trails.
- Build systems where automated decisions can be explained and reviewed.
- Work with product and operations teams to identify automation opportunities.
3. Finance & Data
- Work with financial data and reporting systems.
- Apply knowledge of cash flows, valuations and portfolio metrics.
- Understand lease accounting and related financial concepts.
- Validate data pipeline integrity.
- Support finance and investment teams with reporting tools.
4. DevOps & Infrastructure
- Own the development lifecycle from local development through production.
- Use Git and Docker in software development workflows.
- Work with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Participate in CI/CD processes.
- Monitor system health and participate in incident response.
- Contribute to infrastructure-as-code standards.
5. Collaboration & Communication
- Explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Produce clear technical documentation.
- Work closely with business, product and operations teams.
- Question unclear requirements and help translate business needs into technical solutions.
Required Qualifications
